Cady Fontana is an artist and student living and working in Boston, MA. Exploring the media of fiber arts, Cady focuses on portraiture of emotions and experiences. Loosely based in self-portraits, her illustrative images leave situations up to the imagination, with whimsical characters and inviting colors. She seeks to bring happiness to her viewers, while still leaving some mystery to be unearthed through her characters.


Cady likes to explore the potential of embroidery as a tool for drawing, and allows her pieces to evolve naturally, as a pencil sketch would. This process results in accessible images, which allow a glimpse into a larger story that is left to the viewer to determine.


Recently she has been experimenting with other media, such as digital drawing, ceramics and weaving. Cady is also interested in children's book illustration, libraries, and playing old-time fiddle.
